Babies & Perfume
Is it just me, or do you hate when you hand your baby over to someone for a cuddle and when s/he comes back, s/he stinks of that persons perfume?
Do you think its unreasonable if someone is coming to stay for the weekend to ask them not to wear perfume for the sake of the baby?

Re: Babies & Perfume
Can't stand it. I have finally gotten my mom to stop wearing perfume when she's around us. I rarely wear it anymore and if I do its a small squirt on my one wrist then I rub together. That's all. I want my baby to smell like baby not old lady.

Re: Babies & Perfume
It used to bother me a lot - mainly bc Joseph had respiratory problems when he was born. Because of it, I wouldn't have qualms about telling someone to refrain from perfume.
With Maddie there were no breathing difficulties, it just annoyed me. However, I was less inclined to say something.

Re: Babies & Perfume
Oh yes, especially because it only happens at my ILs and then I have to smell them the rest of the day!!
Unless my child had allergic reactions, I probably wouldn't say anything about it.

My MIL really soaks herself in her perfume and then it gets all over Jared. I then have to give him a bath/change his outfit because it gives me a headache.

Re: Babies & Perfume
When Julia was first born I told everyone coming to visit to please not wear any perfume. My DH's grandmother wears this stong baby powder smelling petfume it would make me so sick and nausaus, but thank god she never wore it when she knew she was going to hold Julia. Now It doesn't bother me as much, plus I give Julia a bath every night.

Re: Babies & Perfume
People already know I am highly allergic to perfume smells, so thankfully if they know me, they don't wear it near me. If its a stranger, I just tell them I am allergic and can't have the smells on my kids either.
