HAs anyone used Ceasarstone Misty Carrera?
I had wanted to use carrera marble for the counter top in the new master bath-- because I love the look and the shower already has grey tile. I am just replacing the counter top and painting, as the current bathroom, while updated, is a bit if a hodge podge.
ANYWAY... my mom was saying to me that you should never use marble in kitchen or baths as countertops because they are very porous and can easily staing. So i googled and this stone came up as an alternative to the marble-- since many people seem to like the look, but are concerned about the durability issue as well.

Marble in the bathroom can stain - from toothpaste, mouthwash, anything that has color in it, rust from the bottom of cans. Carerra is gorgeous, but once it stains it is hard to get out.
Ceasarstone (brand) is quartz. I have Cambria (brand) quartz in my kitchen and I love it. I liked the coloring better than marble.
When I do my bathroom, I will be using quartz for the countertop. Easy maintenance.
If you want to get an idea of the texture and the colors, Ikea has a large selection of Ceasarstone and another brand (not Cambria).

I could go on forever about this topic... I also wanted marble in my bathroom, and I also knew it was porous and therefore high-maintenance, so I also went in search for an alternative. There is no alternative. There is especially no man made alternative (and I looked into every option, including Caesarstone) that will even remotely look like real marble. We ended up going ahead with the carrera in our bathroom and it's been about a year now and I have no regrets. I seal it every six months and wipe it down thoroughly every time I use the sink (and I've tried to train my husband to do the same). There are a few spots from soap, but you can't see them unless you really look for them. I think if you're going to go with marble, you have to accept that it will show some wear over the years and that's part of it's charm. For me, it was the only material that worked with the look I was trying to create, so I was willing to deal with the negatives of having it.
I'm also finishing up a kitchen reno and really wanted marble, but this I was NOT willing to do. Protecting against stains from red wine, tomato sauce, lemon etc. would have sent me over the edge. We chose Luce di Luna quartzite instead, which has veining like a marble, but is much more messy cook-friendly.
Good luck.

I just googled this one, and it seems like a good alternative. I'd need to see samples of all of them in person though. Thanks for the info!
