Cesspool pumping- possible collapse?
I noticed about a month ago the toilet didn't seem to be flushing as well as it did...not as strong, but not all the time
A couple of weeks ago I noticed a spot on our front lawn about 3' x 3' or so - approximately where I think the cesspool is located that seems to be sinking- never noticed it before
nothing is backing up that we noticed - and I went and checked in the basement bathroom, although that toilet (no one really uses) seems to have a very weak flush as well
We have been here 5 years and never have had it pumped or anything- its just the 2 of us
I really think we should call a cesspool company and DH is fighting me telling me I am imagining it and its fine but I am scared that if I don't its going to be very bad
Does this sound like it needs to be pumped, or worse?
Any similar experiences or recs, PLEASE!!!!

Re: Cesspool pumping- possible collapse?
You will probably need to have it pumped. They can put a camera in the tank to tell you if its collapsing or not. My cousin just went through this last weekend. They couldn't even the find the trap. Anyway after 3 co's came out she ended up using AAA. She is in Smithtown. The guy was really nice.
I am pretty sure this is who she used.

Re: Cesspool pumping- possible collapse?
Hmm, the spot on the lawn seems suspect. I know for a FACT that we have the same issue, where it's a bit depressed on the lawn where our pools are, but there has never been any water pooling on top of it.
The first sign of a full and not working cesspool is slower working drains. It will also start to back up at your lowest point in the house (ours is a shower in the lower level).
I would have someone come out and inspect. We had ours pumped before, and it cost about $400-600. If they are older, cinder block cesspools, their useful life may be up and pumping will compromise the soil underneath, making a collapse possible.
What year is your house and do you know of your pools are original?
The pennysaver usually has a ton of companies.

Re: Cesspool pumping- possible collapse?
Cesspools are original- house was built in the early 60's
no water on top of depression- been checking everyday
Is it normal to have that depression?
I'm worried to have it pumped bc of collapse-
