EDITED: Green Dishwasher Liquids (or Powders)? UPDATE

Can anyone recommend a green dishwasher liquid or powder? I tried one from Seventh Generation, and we got this weird staining on the door of the dishwasher and spots on our silverware. Now I have Martha Stewart, but I wind up rewashing some of the dishes, so that's not working.

Has anyone found a good one?

UPDATE: For anyone interested, I tried Babyganics, and it worked well--I'm pretty happy with the results. Some of the staining from 7th Generation is gone also. It is $$ though, that's the only problem. But I really like it so far.

I love the Seventh Generation liquid, so it's weird that you had a different reaction, but I also like the Method Tabs (I don't know if you're married to the idea of a liquid or powder). I do know that the Trader Joe's powder was terrible and ended up staying in the tray after the wash was done! Are you using a rinse agent? I find that helps with spotting and drying and I know 7G makes that, too...

Re: Green Dishwasher Liquids (or Powders)?

Is it the Seventh Gen powder? That's what I use and don't have any staining that I've noticed but we only run ours once every few days, if that. I wonder if I used it more if I'd have the same thing.

I'm afraid I don't have any other suggestions for you, I was just wondering if it was the same product I have so I can look out for problems. Thanks Chat Icon

The ECO one can leave a residue on dishes and pots that is so hard to get off. Google it and see all the negative comments.
I'm going back to regular Palmolive - I don't like Cascade, or I might try the Electrasol tablets. I just like the convenience of a gel.

We used 7th Generation liquid, I have not seen the powder, though maybe that would be better?

I don't care about the staining on the dishwashere because it is also an ancient dishwasher, but it would have been bad if it was a new one.

I wouldn't mind using the tabs, but where do you put them? In the powder basket?

We do run our dishwasher every day--I don't know if this makes a difference.

Thanks for the replies!
