Anyone looking in Jericho?

Seems to be some decent inventory after a quick search online... Any feedback from those who have been looking there?

I'm not looking, but I live close to Jericho. It is a very good school district and I think someone on this site has a DH who teaches there. What I always think of when I think of Jericho is that its all very close to the LIE and Northern State, so that might be a deterrent to some.

I haven't looked there, but did go to college over there for awhile...beautiful area, great SD, close to all.

Beautiful area, and wonderful SD as the PP's have noted.

One concern would be sending my kids to such a competitive SD. My friend went there and while she was very smart, her family couldn't keep up with the Jones' and she always felt inferior in that district because of it, KWIM?

I personally also didn't like that there no "town" area, with little shops and restaurants...


The only other flaw with Jericho is you have to go to Hicksville LIRR station which from what I hear, is difficult to park at...

I grew up in Jericho. The SD is excellent but a lot of social competition for who has what etc.

I turned out fine.

We considered Jericho (and also Syosset). The pros were the good school district, the relatively affordable housing stock for new-ish homes and the size of the lots.

The major cons for us was that it is pretty far from Manhattan via LIRR and there's no downtown/Main Street feel and it was just slightly too suburban for us, kwim? In the end we decided to stay closer to my family.

Good luck! The prices in Jericho and Sysosset seem to have come down in the last few years, based on a quick look on MLS.
