Re: mortgage, mortgage note & deed
If someone is on the mortgage they need to be on the deed. By "Mortgage" I mean the actual document, not the loan. the mortgage and deed must always match, because they are the documents that get recorded with the county.
So, let's say you and your DH are buying a home, and for whatever reason, you are not using his info for the loan. He would not be on the NOTE (which is the actual document the bank is concerned with). But, you want him to be on the deed, so his name would be listed on the mortgage as well. He would need to sign the Deed, Mortgage, and Truth In Lending documents at closing, but not much else.
Feel free to FM me if you have any questions, or if my answer doesn't make sense.
HTH!
