Dropping a feeding???

I know this is probably stupid, but how do you know if you should drop a bottle? One of my boys keeps leaving 2 oz after some bottles and today he didn't want to eat at 2:30, and finally at 3, he left 4 oz. He eats usually 6 or 7 oz bottles 5 times a day. I am wondering if we should drop one.

If it is something that continually happens for days and days- maybe

I was thinking of moving RJ down to 3 8oz bottles a day- since last week, he was only taking like half...But this week he is s ucking them all dry, so Ive thrown that idea out the window...

There are MANY days that Emily doesn't take her 4pm feeding but I always offer it to her for those days that she does take it.

Hi Michelle!

Are the boys eating 3 solid meals? Kevin's schedule is "something" like this:

7:00 - 6 oz bottle
8:00 - 3T cereal w/ jar stage 2 fruit
10:00 - 6 oz bottle
12:30 - jar stage 2 veggies, 1/2 fruit (or cereal)
3:30 - 6 oz bottle
5:30 - jar stage 2 meat, 1/2 jar veggies
7:30 - 6 oz bedtime bottle

He takes ~24 oz/day... sometimes a few ounces more, sometimes less. He won't take a bottle w/ his "meals". Chat Icon

No they are only eating two, I think today we are going to try something new.

What we had been doing is this:

M 7 oz & J 6 oz at 8:30 am
M 6 oz & J 5 oz at 11:30, followed by cereal and veggie or fruit, sometimes both.
M 6 oz and j 6 oz at 2:30
M 6 oz and J 5 oz at 5:30 then at 6 we give them vereal and fruit and or veggie
M 7 oz and J 6 oz at 8 pm. They will not take this any later, and lately have been each leaving about 2 - 3 ozs.

We were thinking about going to 4 bottles a day, 8:30, 12:30, 5:30 and 8:00 with food with the first 3. We don't want to drop too much formula though because the Dr's said J needs the formula more then the food since it is more calories.

Maybe try a 3rd solid. Dare I say meat? Chat Icon Chat Icon I was going to ask if J takes more formula! Chat Icon

I asked the dr to add meat but they said wait until 9 months. I am thinking of finding out if I can add tofu, since my GI Dr said no to cheese and yogurt until 9 months for Joey. We are trying the new schedule today, so we shall see. I hate throwing out 2 oz from every bottle, it drives me crazy!

Re: Dropping a feeding???

I think DS was about 8-9 months when I dropped the 5th bottle and added the 3rd solid meal...

7 - 6 oz bottle
10:30 - 1-2 jars food or yogurt and cereal
11 - 6 oz bottle
12 1 jar food or yogurt and cereal
3 - 6 oz bottle
6 - 1-2 jars food or yogurt and cereal
7 - 6 oz bottle

I never gave my kids tofu b/c I can't stand it. Chat Icon Are they missing out? Chat Icon I'm going to start giving yogurt in the next week or so. Sean loved it (and still does!)

I can't tell you how many ounces we've wasted trying to get Kevin on a "schedule". I kept trying to get him to take 7 or 8 oz at a time, but he won't have it. Chat Icon Meanwhile, Sean would have taken 10 oz if I let him. Chat Icon
