OMG !!!! Where do I start???
So my lovely husband shut the basement door this morning since my DD was crawling around the kitchen. Well, even though I reminded him to please open the door when he left for work, he forgot.
Well, the cats food/water AND LITTER BOX are all in the basement
I just got home from work at 6 tonight. G-d only knows where my cat relieved herself during the day! Where the he!! to I even start looking for pee/poop? I don't smell anything, but that doesn't mean she didn't go anywhere....
Please help!!! Where would you start to look? I have a huge house and the only room she doesn't have access to is DD's room. I already checked my bed..thankfully, nothing there....
I could KILL DH right now!

My cat can hold it the whole day. . . especially if no access to food or water

Problem is, I can't smell a thing since I'm pregnant (I'm always congested and have no sense of smell). DH has no sense ofsmell either.
This isn't the first time something like this has happened, and the cat has NOT held it in.
Ugh...I already checked the couches, our bed and the guest room.
I did find dried pee in the center hallway, thank goodness it was on the tile and not carpet. I'm hoping that's it....

Re: OMG !!!! Where do I start???
thats it but what about maybe just putting a baby gate instead of closing the door? this way DD cant get down there and if he forgets to take the gate down the cats can go over it if need be

My friend put a chain lock on the door to the basement with a foam thingy around the edge so that the door wouldnt open but for a crack (because of the chain) and wouldnt close (because of the foam thing)

potted plants, bathtubs, corners, under tables - anywhere that might be sort of private or secluded.
i have very vindictive cats. if i don't do "right" by them, they let me know.

This happend a few times when we had our cats. Somehow they both chose the bathtub. I guess that looks like a big litterbox to them!

can you put a cat door in your basement door? so you wont have to worry about it?

Re: OMG !!!! Where do I start???
the one time stubby had an accident (her litter box was dirty) you smelled it. Poo might not be as pungent though. Normally they go where the litter box is near so look around there. I would check towels/hampers and under the bed.
But I think she held it in all day with no food and water - my cat only goes so much because of food and her water fountain.
