If you are definitely going to remain CF...

The events that unfolded this past week, just got me thinking.

I'm a "on the fence, but probably leaning towards having kids" kind of CFer.

But for those of you who feel 100% without a doubt that you want to remain CF forever...are you doing anything ot make sure this happens? Tubes tied? DH getting snipped?

Just curious. I know a couple that are CFBC and are very adamant against having kids, that the wife went and got the tubal ligation done to make sure there are no "Oops!"

Wanted to see if this was common or not?

Re: If you are definitely going to remain CF...

My gyno told me that he didn't want me on BC pills anymore so we would have to find another form of BC.

My Dh and I discussed the different options and decided that having him go for a vasectomy was our best option.

The doctor asked my DH 4 times, are you sure you do not want any children...since we didn't have any guess he wanted to make sure we knew this was permanent. Chat Icon Yes doctor, we are sure....

When my mom wanted her tubes tied after me, the doctor was refusing to do it. She was 34 and I was her 3rd child....yet the doc had the nerve to say she wouldn't do it for the longest time.

I can only imagine how many times they ask people who are CFBC.

Definitely think its easier for a man to get snipped than a woman to get the tubes tied.

We are a 100% no kids couple...i have been on the pill for years with no issues...DH said he'd get snipped if need be...but for now this works for us.

Soon to be entering menopause.

I'm on bc now, want to stay on it as long as possible because it regulates my cycle and alleviates symptoms.
When I can't take the pill anymore, then it becomes DH's burden. He can get snipped.

If our infertilty journey leaves us CF, then DH will get snipped in a few years. He's a bit older then me and we really don't want to be entering parenthood as new parents with him past a certain age.

Same here. Not for nothing, but I inquired with Dr regarding my options. She keeps telling me that I'm probably not sure about that decision. Chat Icon

100% CF but no surgeries for either of us; dh has doctor phobia, and I refuse to have an elective surgery, so we're very creative Chat Icon

Ditto for us.
If I even bring up the word vasectomy around my husband he cringes and runs!
He's a HUGE chicken.
He would never do it...but that's ok- I can't force him.
