Center Moriches...
Thoughts on this town/school district?
Pros/cons?
I know it's all subjective, but I'm just wondering if anyone has first (or 2nd hand) knowledge of what it's like these days...
I grew up in Westhampton School District, and I know what Center was like then...not sure about now...
DH and I are starting a house-hunting process, and there seems to be some good deals in Center Moriches....

I have a freind who lives there and her DH teaches there. She is very proud of the town and the area. we considered it for a very short time, just looking online though. she did mention an area where she said flooded alot, and to stay clear of that area (I can't remember where it was though). other then that, she had nothing but good things to say.
I have heard mixed reviews from others though.

i work in manorville & go into center moriches for work all the time
some parts are nice and some are just mehh--very run down looking
not sure about the SD

I live near there (westhampton) I think center moriches is a very cute town - reminds me of upstate or something like that - very cozy...

School district is mediocre at best. Test scores aren't great, and they don't offer a lot in terms of classes, extra curriculars, or sports. The best parts are south of Montauk. Holiday Beach is one of the nicest areas. North of Montauk is ehh, north of Frowein is run down and looks horrible with a lot of rentals to illegal immigrants.
Have you considered Eastport/South Manor, or East Moriches?

That's what I remember from when I was in school....
We are looking in East Moriches, Eastport, Manorville...in fact we'd RATHER be there...I just saw some good prices in CM, and was cuirous...but I think we'll keep our search to where we really WANT to be...
We're also looking in Westhampton and East Quogue (where we are now)...
