Know I know why I can't find a nurse to do the intralipid infusion
The RNs I have spoken to don't do IVs.
I found out that RNs that are certified in critical care are the ones that do IVs all the time. That and EMTs.
So my search continues.
If anyone can think of anyone that would like to help, please let me know.

What about going to your local firehouse to ask them if someone on their squad is certified and willing to do it?
ETS: There are some firehouses that have ambulance corps. Look for those.

I did..he has space constraints or he would offer it to all of his patients.
I'm not sure if Sandra has the right training though. Not all RNs have that training.
He suggested I try to find a friend or neighbor or relative that would do it.
In the end if I have to suck it up and pay the visiting nurse agency, I will. I was hoping not to.

I'm pretty sure an RN has the training to do an IV, I mean I learned ny 2nd year in nursing school (no I am not an RN)

I think your best bet is calling your local university and ask for a 4th year student. Or a private practice nursing facility.

Can you call your ins company and find out if there are companies in your plan? That is how I found a company. If I remember the name I will let you know.

They definitely have the training but if they don't do it all of the time or work in a critical care job and do it all the time they may not be comfortable doing it.
My mom's neighbor also suggested chemo nurses since they do that all of the time too. He's an endocrinologist at Stonybook. He's going to ask around too.

Re: Know I know why I can't find a nurse to do the intralipid infusion
My mother is an ER nurse (in massachusetts, sorry!!) and does them all the time. I think all nurses learn how to do them, though. Both times I had surgery, the nurses had to do an IV.
Good luck!!!!!!

that's what I thought initially. My NP told me that nurses with critical care certs are the ones who do it all the time.
I've been under the care of lots of nurses in the past and most of them did IVs but there were some who didn't.

Hi! I am having the same problem. I spoke to Dr. B, and he said there is an intralipid shortage! I am skipping it before the IUI, but I may need it after!

Re: Know I know why I can't find a nurse to do the intralipid infusion
My dad had to have IVIG treatments for an autoimmune disease a few years back. I emailed him and asked about his nurse this is his reply "If they are getting the IVIG from the Doctor's orders, then once it is authorized thru their insurance, they should be contacted by a provider and a nurse working for the company, certified to administer the IVIG will contact them. If they are paying out of pocket (like over $10,000 probably) I can look to see if I still have their phone numbers." If you want me to see if he can find the number fm me

I got it through Kraupners. It was twice the price of what I thought it was but I will have it.

The problem is that it's very expensive to go through agencies. I was looking for someone to do it privately since it's not covered.
