one doctor vs group of doctors

which did you decid and how did you decide? Both takes insurance, one is a single doctor that you can call at anytime if you have a problem. the other is a group of docors that you don't know who you will get each time. Many questions about both what are you guys doing???

Re: one doctor vs group of doctors

I am in a group.
Basically 5 women doctors and who ever is on call you get- i don't mind it really- i've never had a relationship with my OB/GYN anyway.
Two of my friends delivered in the same group & said it was fine.

I LOVED having one doctor. I really felt like she new me and listened to me . She also said that she would 99% deliver my baby and she had 2 backups in case but she was there to deliver my son.

I love having one doctor. He personally knows me and everything about me. He is going to deliver my baby but if not he does have one associate.

Re: one doctor vs group of doctors

I am seeing a solo doctor....one of the downsides though is that he was at the hospital dealing with a patient when I had my appointment...and he was an hour late. With a group, they probably would have picked up the slack. However...I like that he gets to know you and that I don't always have to explain my situation if there is anything new to someone different all the time.

Re: one doctor vs group of doctors

I go to a group of drs, I have seen everyone of them and love em all! I would never go back to a single person practice ob/gyn.

There are 5 men, 1 woman, and only 4 of them are on call. I prefer male drs, but the female one there is wonderful too.

My ped for the baby will also be a group practice of 5 drs.

There is so much wealth of knowledge and experience group practices of drs share with different backgrounds.

I see a sole practicioner, and have been seeing him as an GYN and now an OB for the past 10 years. I am not a huge fan of group practices at all, although my son's pedi is a group practice and I am ok with that.

My doc will 99.9% delivery my child, knows everything about me, can even remember Andrew's birthdate and weight, and even came to my hospital room each day to check on me and such. He does have a doctor he shares office space with, but they are not a practice, they each run their own practice, but once in my pregnancy, I meet with the other doctor just in case...

ETA: In the 10 years I've been seeing this solo doc, I've had one appointment bumped because he was delivering another baby in the hospital. They fit me in the next day with no problems.

I go to a group of doctors. The things I like about them are:

-One of the doctors from the practice is always on call at the hospital, they do not have other doctors on call for them.

-Throughout your pregnancy they try to have you visit with each doctor at least once so you can feel comfortable with them and be familiar with them.

-It hasn't been hard to schedule a doctor's appointment and I haven't had to wait for long in the waiting room for my appointments.

This is just my personal experience with my OB/GYN, I'm not saying one is better than the other.

Same exact for me, except mine doesn't share his space with anyone. My doc schedules his vacations around his preggo patients, he's never not delivered one of his patients.
