architect
We are considering doing a dormer on our house can anyone recomend a good architect?

All of the contractors that I got quotes from were happy that John did the plans, since he is apparently very anal about his drawings, so the builders don't have to guess about anything. Everything they need is in the drawings.
I was very happy with him. I gave him my layout that I did in Visio, then he made it functional, changed some things that either wouldn't work, or would make more sense a different way. I was also able to make changes on his drawings (up to a point. When he was close to being done, changes cost some money). He also went to my variance hearings. The 2nd time, I don't think I would have gotten the variance approved without him there.

I think the price range depends on the complexity of your project.
I am using JL Drafting in Farmingdale and am waiting for plans. So I guess i'll see how they turn out. They might be worth calling to get a quote.
