If you have a flattop electric stove...

what kind of tea kettle do you use? My DH thinks I'm crazy, but I swear I'm seeing scratches left behind on the cooking surface by our stainless steel tea kettle. Should I get a ceramic or glass kettle?

I have the OXO stainless steel kettle but no scratches on ours. why not try a ceramic one? I had one before this one and it was great.

I use a stainless tea kettle and I have had no problems the past year since I have had my stove. Could it be how you are cleaning the flattop?

Re: If you have a flattop electric stove...

I'm thinking it may be because the kettle is a couple of years old and pretty burned and scratched on the bottom. We just switched from an electric coil stove to a flattop, so maybe constant use on the coil left scratches in the stainless steal bottom of the kettle which is now affecting the new flat top? Oh well, I'll just get a new one and see if that solves the problem!

that could be it - I know the one we had on our wedding registry said it shouldn't be used on flat top stoves.

Since we now have one, DH got an oxo one for Christmas, that can be used on it.
