That's why I am in queens.
Yes thats one good thing about Queens. But we do pay for different services so it evens out.
Queens has actually taken some serious hits to the RE market in the past two years. More than expected.

You can search by street name too - just don't add a suffix. If you live on Johnson Place, just type in Johnson and select your zip code.

I did and it never shows up. My house doesn't exist If I plug in the section block and lot I can get it, but it doesn't come up in a search Since I don't have the sectio, block and lot memorized I just click on one that does pop up for my street then just find my house.

I found my house but the stuff for the previous year is incorrect. It's showing discounts we did not get. But look at the pic! My pup is in the window!

They just posted the 2010 General and School taxes. Still tentative, but at least the numbers are up there now.
My taxes actually went down (and without grieving them).
My general went down $143, my school taxes went down $99, and the STAR Exemption went UP $104.
So a total of $346 off for the year. Not bad.
Does anyone know how to grieve your taxes? What is the process like and how likely is it that your taxes will go down?

5k increase
Didn't you once say you did a dormer recently? That is probably the increase for the dormer.
yup we did, still us living here though, it sucks how the towns punish you yearly for having some more space and a nice yard
We dormered our house and applied for the home improvement exemption. You should try that. We saved this year about $2500 on our taxes. The exemption phases out over 8 years.

Don't your taxes go up when you dormer? I did not know there was a home improvement exemption is that only if you dormer?
ETS my house officially is not worth what I paid for it and of course they are saying that they are not lowering our taxes.

There are rules about expanding your house by no more than 50% (I believe). IT was a while ago. We dormered in 2006.

We did apply for that, but we did not hear back yet if we are approved.
I am just wondering if this is it, or if they are going up another 5k next year
in the next 2 years we may be paying close to 20k in taxes
my house is a nice size but we are on a 60x100 lot, just seems redic
