I read it many, many years ago. It was about a girl who lives in the woods with her mother. The girl collected butterflies, and she learns to play her father's violin... which makes her mother angry because her mother blames the violin for her father's death (he drowned in a swamp or something).

Does this sound even remotely familiar to anyone?
