verizon fios (sorry it's long)
Is this normal?
The other day, a verizon fios sales rep came door to door. DH and I wanted to switch from cablevision so it was perfect.
He filled out all the paperwork and said he'd call us with an install date. He called later that night and said digital phone service wasn't available in our area yet and he needed to come back to re-do the paperwork. He came back last night, we re-did the paperwork and again he said he'd call us later with the install date.
He called DH (at 10:30 pm!) and said that since we never had verizon service before he needed a credit card number to bill us $129.95. This $129.95 was a deposit which would be credited back to the credit card in 12 months. When DH told me this this morning, I freaked out. Of course, when I asked him what he told the guy, he said "I told him to call you today"
I've never heard of this AND we are verizon customers. We both had individual home numbers with verizion before we were married, we have a home phone now with them AND our cell phones are verizon.
Does this sound legit?

Re: verizon fios (sorry it's long)
I just got fios, and didn't give any credit card information...that just doesn't make any sense. I didn't take their phone service, just internet and cable

Re: verizon fios (sorry it's long)
no.. usually those door to door salesmen are outside reps..... i would call verizon right now (not the number this guy gave u) and have them help u and clear it up and guide u in the right direction. take the number off ur phone bill or website.... i am sure the saleguy is legit but just not nec in this transformation. they are out to make a sale.... call verizon directly...

Re: verizon fios (sorry it's long)
I dont know if you called yet or not, but I work for verizon, selling fios. When you are new to verizon, a credit check is done with ss# and date of birth. Depending on the results, you would need either a $125, $250 or $400 deposit which is refundable in approx 12 months of good payment history.
If you have any questions, please feel free to fm me, hope everything works out ok
