Re: stylist?

No, I have always had a very distinct sense of style. I got stuck in a rut a while back and made a few changes to my wardrobe and felt much better. I would spend that money on actual clothes, shoes and bags rather than the service.

They seem so much more accessible - and if one was to go through a wardrobe makeover it may be nice to have a stylist guide your new choices.

Re: stylist?

I think the big department stores have personal shoppers. I know I used to work with a woman who used to be a personal shopper at Macy's 34th Street. You can always try that route. I don't know how much money that would cost.

I think reading Lucky would also help guide some shopping choices.

Re: stylist?

Do you have a few friends with a good sense of style? You can invite them all over and they can help you evaluate your closet, and once they see what you have they can suggest things that you might still need to round out your wardrobe. Serve some drinks and finger foods -- you save money from a stylist's fee, plus you get to have a fun little party with your friends!

MACY's, & Lord & Taylor offer free personal shoppers. You just need to make an appt in advance. There is no charge but you should usually tip them.

My MIL does this for special occassions.
Then my very good friend does this 2x a yr and buys her entire wardrobe at Macys with a personal Shopper. She got a new job and needed all new suits, so they looked at her figure and then picked abotu 20 suits that would be flaterring...& she bought like 3 of them.

She has gone back a few times since, so now they now her size and body shape. She just went for new winter clothes....They started to pull 20 -30 outfits prior to her even arriving. How great!!! Plus she went with a Macys 25% off coupon, there was a big sales going on...and then the personall Shopper scanned anotehr 25% off card for her on top of all the addtional savings. SO she tipped the girl 80 dollars. BUt walked out with 14 tops and a bunch of skirts.

She went to the Macys in Herald Square

Hope the Helps!
