Louis Vuitton Handbag Question
For my birthday my Husband bought me a Louis Vuitton Handbag.
My question is, how long does it take for the bag to darken on the handles and trim? Is there any special way to clean it or care for it? Thank you everyone, I just don't want to ruin it !

The sunlight darkens the light colored trim. The oils from your skin will do it as well.
I remember when I got my first louis i was so concerned about the trim being all different colors... but that never happened.. they gradually all turned at the same time...
Very cute bag btw!

I have the same bag and I love it. I have had it for over 2 years now and it is my favorite one! The handles will start to change within a month or so!

It depends on whether or not you use it every day. If you do, it will start to change in a month or so. Be carful around water though-if you get it wet before it darkens you could get water spots on the handles.

I think I have the same one. Tivoli? I got mine last year for Xmas and the leather has very slightly darkened, but I don't use it everyday.

I have the Tivoli bag. I love it. My straps darkened within 2 months i think but I use it everyday. It's definitely gradual. Enjoy it!

dont go by me but after reading purse forum i ended up spraying my handles. i dont use my bag every day but it turned a nice peachy dark tan i like the color.

Mine started darkening about 3-6 months after I got it-the other one about 6. I used the first (cabas mezzo) to walk to work in NYC, so it got rained on.
There is nothing special I can think of to care for it. I am just careful where I put them down. They are well loved!

It took about a year and even then it was not as dark as some of the classic ones that people have had for decades. The style I have is the Montorgueil and it has leather around the zipper pull. That part got dark very quickly, probably because I use a ton of hand cream.

Love that bag! Tivoli!! I'm LV obsessed! It depends whether it's your everyday bag or not. If it's your everyday bag it will take a couple of months to darken from the oils on your skin and the sunlight. After years and years when the handles are really blackened, you can have the handles replaced at any Louis Vuitton store (not Macy's, but Americana or the city stores). There is a fee and they send them out and you get it back in a couple of weeks. The only annoying thing with that is that the leather anchor pads on the bag stay dark and the handles are like, bright white almost! But they darken up and it all looks ok after awhile. Congrats on your bag!!
