Undereye wrinkles

Can anyone recommend a cream? I just noticed these thin lines that I believe are wrinkles, under my eyes Chat Icon

Any recommendations for a cream that works??

Re: Undereye wrinkles

anything with Retinol should work, if you only have little lines (crow's feet?) I have been using Loreal revitalift advanced eye cream it's made with retinol. I don't have lines , but my dermatologist recommended it for my milia (got them when I was prego ) and he said it's also a good line/wrinkle fighter (unless you have deep wrinkles and have a lot, in which case you will need prescription retinol cream). I am pretty happy with this cream and have been using it for a year now, milia started going away, and my undereye skin is def smoother. maybe you can try and see.

also my derm says you have to give 4-6 weeks for results of any cream to really show.

I also suggest a cream with retinol in it.

I was using this for a while. I ended up cutting it off when I got an eye infection for an entirely separate reason but for some reason didn't go back...which now i'm going to go look for it upstairs, haha

It was great! Sephora!External Image

Re: Undereye wrinkles

Silly question - is retinol safe while pregnant? I need to get a creme for under my eyes too.

Don't worry, I'll ask my OB, but I don't think this warrants a call before I see him on Wednesday Chat Icon

I was under the impression it wasn't safe. I stopped using all my retin-a/retinol and alpha hydroxy acid products.

I asked my derm when I started Retin-A if there would be a problem if I got pregnant while on it and he said no, but that I should just stop using it should I become pregnant.

Can you do me a favor, can you keep me (and others) posted as to what your OB says/recommends about Retinol products during pregnancy? Like you, I don't think it warrants a phone call to my OB, but I won't be seeing him for 4 weeks. Chat Icon

Re: Undereye wrinkles

I found this online:

Retinol and retinyl are both Vitamin A. High dose oral supplementation of Vitamin A has been associated in some studies with an increased risk for birth defects in pregnancy. In contrast to this data, topical use of vitamin A products have not been associated with an increased risk for birth defects or complications. Topical retinol and retinyl are poorly absorbed through the skin. Studies of prescription topical vitamin A such as Retin A (tretinoin) have found that application of the entire "tube" and maximum absorption of that medication, would equal about 1/7 of the vitamin A dose in one prenatal vitamin.

Although the data on topical tretinoin has been reassuring, many doctors recommend against the use of topical tretinoin due to an abundance of caution or as a "better safe than sorry" approach.

I also think the over the counter stuff- like the Loreal contain a LOT less Retin A than prescriptions...
