Spinoff to tipping
We've only been in the house a month- would you still tip mailman, garbage, etc?
I don't really believe in tipping anyone for doing their job- but if it's the norm- I don't want my mail left on the lawn or something 
ETA: I've never seen the mailman and I live in West Islip where we have a town given garbage pail- and that's all they'll take except on certain days.

last year we were in the house lesss then a month before the holidays..we didnt tip the mailman, but we did tip the garbage men..we had a lot of stuff and they always took everything..we are in East Islip..hth
