Something that's probably easy but you've never tried to make...

What have you never attempted to make?

I think it's pathetic that I haven't made a pot of sauce...I'm just afraid to try. My mom's is soooo good, my dad's is amazing and my MIL's is awesome. I don't want to try because I don't want it to come out gross.

Any recipes you have yet to make? Chat Icon

Roast chicken for me too! I actually just tackled the sauce challenge and I think it went well--I did it the first time just for me and DH a couple of weeks ago, and then I just did it last week for baked ziti and meatballs for company--it all came out great! Go for it!

believe it or not, sauce here too!

on Sundays my mom makes pasta with sauce. when we eat by my MIL she usually makes sauce too - sauce three times a week is a bit much PLUS i am definitly intimidated!

I am the same way with the sauce. I am so intimated by it. I am actually thinking about trying it this weekend. I might go buy some fresh ravioli's for Sunday.

Soup and sauce is easy.

Don't be roaster phobic.

Give it a try and have DH be your guinea pig. That's what I do.

Fried anything pretty much.

Although I have made nutella ravioli which are fried and zeppoles - but never fried chicken!

I guess because we're not so big on fried foods though.

Roast chicken is fairly simple: Clean chicken. Brush with olive oil and spices, and place in a baking dish. (If you get really ambitious, add a few peeled garlic cloves to the baking dish). Bake at 350 for an hour.

But I've never attempted chicken soup, either. My mom's and MIL's are both awesome. I'm more than a little intimidated.

I didn't want to make sauce b/c I thought DH would like it better then jarred and I'd always have to make it.

Turns out, mine wasn't that good so it wasn't an issue.

I want to make one of those prime rib roasts but I don't want to ruin a $50 piece of meat. I was going to make one for my mom's 60th birthday but it didn't happen. maybe 65

I can't make eggs - I think I'm a pretty descent cook (dinner)

Risotto. That is probably the only thing I would like to make and have never tried because I'm scared to ruin it.

I've made pretty much everything else.

a roast of some sort. Always nervous I'll over or under cook it & not season it well.

We got this wonderful cookbook from William Sonoma about roasting all types of meat. DH was excited because he thought I'd attempt at least ONE recipe from it...yea its been 2 years since we got it & the pages are still crisp.Chat Icon

Sauce...I conquered the roast chicken fear this year to positive results and I even use electric cooking! I aspire to write a cookbook with electric cooking directions, they are so different! I add citrus into the cavity of a chicken/turkey to keep it moist...

Risotto is scary at first but super easy. Once you make a simple one once you will want to make it all of the time.
