I dont know....its just missing something - help with my LR

This is my living room.....its looked like this for 3 years now and I love most of it. It just feels unfinished and I dont know what else to do.

We are moving the furniture and where the couch is on the back wall that is blank, we will be putting the TV cabinet and TV and the large couch is going where the love seat is, and the love seat is going caddy corner where the tv stand currently is. So really everything is moving one placement clockwise.

The only other difference is I have since purchased new curtains and pillows......





What would you do to spice it up a little???? It just feels unfinished and like its missing something and Im stumped. Should I change something, add something...what???

i would get different throw pillows - something bigger with more detail. i might also get a bigger "centerpiece" for the coffee table - maybe something taller?

you're missing some decor items ... maybe a large rattan floor vase with tall branches, a larger centerpiece for the coffee table, a solid vase in a complimentary but totally different color for some 'splash'! or photo frames for the end tables.

I'm having the same issue as you with mine.

I think the new curtains and pillows will help. I also a PP suggestion on getting a tall vase for the floor. I don't think you need too much else.
The older i get the simpler I'm trying to live.

i don't know if this helps, but when i looked at your living room I got a very calming, peaceful, relaxed feeling.

I love the large vase on the floor idea with some tall bamboo or something wispy, KWIM?

Is everything in the burnt orange family? If yes, how about adding some slate blue to the room. Maybe a new pillow on each couch, or maybe a slate blue throw. Maybe the floor vase could be slate blue. I love Home Goods for stuff like this.

If you aren't liking blue, about sage green accents.

Love the new curtains. Are you moving around the room soon? Maybe you will love the new arrangement with the new curtains and pillows and you won't need anything else.

everything is burnt orange and red, the room isnt as muted as it looks in the pictures. The couches are brighter, the walls are more of a coffee color.

I dont know. The thing is all of this was in our old apartment but I actually had the room painted burnt orange and I LOVED it. But the living room here is attached to the stairway, into the kitchen, down the hallway. So I couldnt do the orange I dont think and get away with it in this space...KWIM.

I think you should paint the wall where the tv is going to go a darker color like a brunt orange color. if that wall leads to something else, run a really nice thick moulding down the wall where it ends and the new wall starts. that would make the room burst!!

I also agree with something as a centerpiece on your coffee table, but nothing to high because you still have to see over it

I think its safe to bring in other colors to such as dark browns. it will warm everything up. maybe a thrown over the side of one of the sofa's.

I'd try to bring the furniture closer together... Can you put the couches facing each other - keep the sofa where it is and put the loveseat on the other side of the coffee table?

Then move the TV stand where the loveseat is?

I don't know if that door leads right into your LR from the outside - then the TV stand might be in the runway..

Then maybe do a console table underneath the half wall? Or a reading nook - like a wingback chair and small pedestal table where the TV stand is currently?


eta: or maybe get a larger area rug?

do you think the couches can be moved in toward each other a little more? the colors are perfect!!

honestly.....nothing. Now that Eddie's room is done, you are just looking for something else to do! hahah...I swear in person people the room is perfect!

I think it looks great, nice neat and clean!

But the first thing I noticed that it's missing is a light fixture. The ceiling is totally bare (not even high hats) so I think if you were able to wire a ceiling fan or lighting up there it would definitely help to complete the look.
