Ceiling Wainscotting?
We have this in our bathrooms - the one downstairs is a bleached oak (with those hints of pink) - I want to prime it and paint it white that will match the crown molding (craft white from eddie bauer)
Can you paint wainscotting?
I don't want to make a big mistake if its a 'no-no' - Thanks

Re: Ceiling Wainscotting?
We had a porch that we converted into a permanent room and we kept the original ceiling - which was similar to what you described. We painted ours white and had a few problems. It turns out that our wood ceiling had been treated with some super strong stain. We had the ceiling stripped, primed with an oil based primer, then painted with 2 or 3 coats. . . and there are still spots where the paint cracked and the original stain is bleeding through. Thankfully we were going with a shabby chic/beachy look to the room so it was ok - but if I were going for a more polished look, then I'd go with yet another coat.
It can be done - just double check what is on your wood ceiling. I thought it was dark brown paint and it was dark stain. . . had I paid attention earlier we would have had an easier time.
