A Follow up to my post yesterday

So we walked away. I have to say, I really really appreciate everyone's support with making the decision. I thought maybe we were being unrealistic.

The real estate agent tried to tell us that they didn't need a co to add the shower to an existing bath and tried to talk us into staying with it, but was ok with us walking away too. the house has been on the market for 6 months now. And it was odd, when we first looked at she told us she had a house around the corner that was in "much better condition" but first look, and second for that matter, this house looked great!! All up to date, SS appliances, granite counters, new bathrooms, all hardwood floors through out!!! So that was a huge clue that we didn't even realize! She did tell us they have several offers on this house now.. Why do ALL real estate agents tell us this when we don't want a house?? Chat Icon

In the end, we feel so relieved!!! Thanks again for everyone's support!! Its so nice to have a place to turn to for advice and venting!!! Everyone is so helpful here!!! Chat Icon

On to another house..... that was our 5th offer on a house. but the furthest we had made it so far. Every house except the first one and this one, we bid more then asking price and we were out bid... Fingers crossed we find something good. Chat Icon

You'll find something, Heather. Just keep looking and your house will appear! Glad you guys walked away. Sounded like it was going to be a nightmare!

so happy you walked, i think it was the best thing to do. finding a house is the single most stressful thing so far and to add the stress of getting a co, fixing things would of been too much. Good luck!

From everything you posted yesterday, you made the right decision. That sounded like a nightmare waiting to happen.

Hang in there and know this... you will find the right house. It's out there and you guys will definitely find it eventually. Think of all of this as a fantastic learning experience. Each house you bid on, you learn something new that helps you a little more for the next time you bid.

i agree with Nifheim.. buying a house is a whole new level of stress!

You'll find something perfect for you... all the rest just werent meant to be Chat Icon

We are lucky enough (fingers still crossed) that we pretty much found a condo we wanted to live in only on the 2nd day we went out looking for places!!! We bid... there were other bidders as well... but we won bc i think we went 3k higher than the other bidder... We are not in the clear until we find out if we def will be given the loan... so even at that point, we may not have the place! This house hunting/mortgage process will drive you absolutely insane... but keep at it... everything happens for a reason

Where are you looking to live?

haha, we are all over the place now. my list is pretty long of the places we are willling to go Chat Icon northshore suffolk from huntington to pt jeff station we would move to nassau northsore as well. I know we will find something that's right. And we have learned a TON from each of the experiences. we laugh about it, last night we were saying we made it further on that house then any other one, maybe next time we can make it all the way Chat Icon

Everythign happens for a reason, you will find a better house! A friend of mine has paid to have 4 houses inspected and everything has either fallen through due to bad inspection issues or it was a short sale that the bank took over 6 months to close.Chat Icon

DH and I looked for 3 years (seriously for 2) and it took all this time to find the perfect house. Good Luck, you'll find something amazing!
