Art you can make yourself!
I was on Wisteria.com and saw this:
A set of 3 is $100.
This can't be that hard to produce yourself! I mean, I absolutely have these leaves around on my ferns, japanese maple, hydrangea. I've never dried or preserved leaves before but it can be done. I could even take a picture of the leaves, print it, and cut it.
And that background? Thin paper, crumble it up, spray it with water, and put it on a cookie sheet in the oven. Get a nice frame, glue the leaf pictures to the paper, put it in the frame, done.
Right? I have to try this. I keep seeing this concept - leaves on a fairly blank canvas - and love the look. To have the leaves actually come from my garden would be pretty cool too!

Try photosensitive paper, I think it's called. We used to make prints like that - arrange the leaves and such on the paper and lease it in the sun. The paper turned blue in the sun but where the leaves were it stayed white.

A trick to get paper to look brown like that:
I use to stain paper with wet tea bags for school projects, to get that "old" look.
Boil water, let tea bag soak, squeeze until a bit wet (not running) & dab/rub on paper...it will stain it. You could use raspberry flavored tea for a red stain as well.

Great ideas, thanks ladies! I like doing crafty stuff in the winter, when we're inside a lot. I guess I'd have to cut the leaves now and press them in a book though. Or at least photograph them.

Love the idea! This is why I love taking pics of my trees in our backyard in the Fall. I can't wait to put pics like that up (when I have the time to print them of course)
Can't wait to see how it turns out.
