Consultation with Puppy Sitter
DH and I are going away for Labor day weekend (Vegas) needless to say we can't bring our dogs like we normally do and we have no one to watch them so we called a puppy sitter. She is coming on Monday to meet with us. Anyone ever do this? Give a complete stranger a house key and trust them in your home. She is licensedm bonded and insured. Any ?'s I should ask her?

Re: Consultation with Puppy Sitter
Yup! During the interview, I asked about their experience, how they handle certain situations (that pertained to our dog), where they would take him if there was an emergency, if the price includes a full walk, what they do in case of rain or snow, will they call me to check in on how he's doing, ensure if there is an emergency, they will not only call but leave medical decisions up to us...
I also evaluated her on how she interacted with our dog. I told her a few of the commands he knows and she told him to do them. She was firm but friendly when she told him to sit, and he did. She didn't have to repeat herself, or yell, or be dominant with him by stepping toward him or leaning over him.
She works at my vet's office, so that was a pretty good recommendation there but I'd get references and call them also, for past clients.
Also, get everything in writing with a contract. Make sure you put down any special instructions, meds, etc. Ask about how payment works, if you leave them cash, etc.
Good luck!
