Converting to gas-need some info
My house is set far back from the street. My neighbors houses are closer to the street.
Last year I asked Keyspan to quote the conversion. They told me that the lines would have to be brought up to my house and it would cost $10K. Just to have the lines brought to the house.
I bagged that idea.
My neighbor is coverting and she said they have to bring the lines within 3 feet of the house and the plumber does the rest.
Well if that's the case it could be an affordable option.
I would most likely have to replace my burner but the hot water tank is ok.
what do you guys know about this?
Also, please let me know what you spent and what you had to replace or upgrade.
If you want to FM that info, please do.
Thanks

Re: Converting to gas-need some info
we had gas service already int he house with oil heat so i dont know about having it brought to the house.
But you will need to get someone to remove the remainder of the oil in the tank and have the tank removed.

We could have the tank abandoned. I don't think we have to have it removed though. I have no idea how they would get it out!

i guess you dont have to have it taken out, if it isnt in the way where it is.

Re: Converting to gas-need some info
We went with Burner King. They quoted us $5K for EVERYTHING, taking care of permits, etc...
We have a corner lot so instead of the line going in our street, we are going to tap into the main line on the side of the yard. It's only 2.5 feet from my propety line.
We could not open the line until this mid-august. The town refused the road to be touch for 5 years since they had opened it 5 years ago.
Since we had VERY LITTLE damage to be done to the road and only 2.5 ft. Keyspan approved it right away.
The cost includes, permits, labor, boiler, removal of old oil tank. Everything!
