Homeowners Insurance?
DH and I need to get homeowners insurance. We are not totally sure where to start. I guess we just start calling company's? Any recommendations? Who had the best rates?
we are thinking of calling...
state farm
all state
geico
liberty mutual
any other rec's or things we should know?? TIA!!

You can also try Travelers and maybe Nationwide. I don't believe that Geico and Allstate are currently covering Long Island.
We just went through this but will be living near water and it was really diificult to find coverage. In the end we had to use a broker.
You should have some info about the house including square footage, when it was built, age of the roof, style house, nearest fire department and hydrant, etc.

Because I found that alot of companies werent covering long island I called a broker in my town and had them do all the work.

we had to go through a broker since our heating system is so old to find a company that would cover us.

she was very very helpful....
if u want FM me and tell her i referred her to u. she even sent me a baby gift when i had my DS. really helpful, caring agent. and they are hard to find...................................... she really worked w/ me to fit my budget.
