Which curtains?
I have a huge sliding window in my kitchen (70"W x 58"H) that brings in a lot of light. Which of the curtains should I get? #1 would let light in while preserving some privacy and #2 would also let in a lot of light but not so much for the privacy (I would get holdbacks so that they sweep to the side). For those kinds of windows, i'd definitely go for for #1, light over privacy in that location

#2. Simple curtains to the floor. I don't think you'd have less privacy with them... just close them all the way when you want privacy. I'd get the rings/clips to hang them so you can slide them easily:

I always preferred the look of longer ones...if you wanted to do the longer in this case just make sure the fabric and style are casual and they won't come off as formal as they can in other rooms.

Is it a sliding window or sliding door? If it's a window I say #1, if not than def. #2 to the floor.

I vote #1, because I love the look of tiered curtains in kitchens. I'm old-fashioned like that.

i LOVE the example that you posted in #1... the room is beautiful, so i think i am siding with that one just because of that... i am not being partial.
