Grinding stumps...
We had to take a few trees down in the backyard, and the stumps are sticking out. How much does it usually cost to grind them down? Recommendations?

A LOT.... usually something like 2-3X the cost of cutting the tree down...
I think mom paid something like $800 to grind a stump down that was roughly 7" in diameter several years ago. I think it may also depend upon the tree-type, since some woods are much harder than others and therefore require much more work.

we had twelve trees in the back and it was $$$ for someone to grind them down.
We rented the stump grinder ourselves 90 bucks for 1/2 day and DH did it

I asked my DH (he did this for a living back in the day  ) and he said it can vary greatly. It depends on where the stumps are located, how big they are, how deep you want them to go, the tree's root system, etc..

If you look at my tree removal post - you can give that guy a call for a free estimate. He seems to be reasonably priced.
