Macys...since when...

did it become synonymous with "low priced"?

I just saw a commercial for Macys and I dont recall specifically how it went but it was something something at a low price....

I just never thought of Macy's as low priced. Have I been living under a rock?

I think in comparison to like Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus they are the lower end... KWIM?

I've never considered Macy's to be "low priced" either.

I have always been bombarded with Macy's coupons and sales...so yes, I consider them lower priced compared to other department stores.

I don't think they are either.. they're probably just using that slogan? to get customers during these hard times. No surprise!

I always thought of them as a middle of the road store. Higher end than Sterns (RIP Sterns- great sales!) and JSP and lower end than Bloomingdales, L&T, and Saks.

BTW, I hate Macy's and to me it's synonymous with poor service. It's great to send out coupons, but you never use them on anything Chat Icon

Re: Macys...since when...

I think Macy's has definitely gone downhill in the last few years. I used to think of Macy's as one of the higher-end stores (maybe not like Saks high-end, but definitely better than, say, JCPenney), but everything, including their service, has just gone down. Except for the one in Herald Square (which I still love), I hardly ever go in there anymore.

I think of them as low-priced. Besides Herald Square, I think the stores are pretty dumpy Chat Icon

When Macy's has good sales and good clearance items, I think it is pretty affordable.
