Or something that specifically designates another person to care for your child should something happen to you/DH...?

No not yet and you figure since I'm an attorney and do them I would have one already

Yes it's in our will along with alternates and the person that will be handling their finances.

We chose the god parents as the people who would watch Emily if something happened to us -- the only problem with that is the god mother is my sister and the god father is my husband's brother -- so I don't know exactly how they'd share her. I know we need to put it somewhere specifically.

Yes, we each have one. We chose my brother, since my whole family lives around here and can be a strong support system for him, DH's only family here is BIL, so he wouldn't have any help. The will is worded so that if we both are gone all of our assets go into an account that my brother controls to pay for Sarah and any future kids we have clothing, schooling, etc. He can live in our home or sell it and put the money in the account for the kids upbringing.

It is such a hard decision...we have chosen my sister but the truth is our very close friends (a couple with a daughter a year old than Molly) are truly the best choice. My sister would LOVE Molly but her life is just never settled. So we are now rethinking some of the decision. I also want to amend things to include statements that Scott's mother (with help from his sister) should get Molly 1 week during the summer and for Easter break, or something like that. I want to make sure our views on education are also carried out. All financial decisions will go thru a very close friend (part of the couple above) since I trust her to know what I would have wanted and how to make money last for more than a month..something my sister is not very good at.
If we have nothing in writting my parents would want Molly and honestly I love them but they are just not the type of parents I want for my child..they are great as grandparents but as parents we have very different views on things.

We haven't because we honestly don't know who to pick. Neither of our siblings are the best candidate. We are torn.
