Growth Sono at 30 weeks
i just had my first growth sono at 30w2d. Well the baby is doing great and his/her estimated weight is 4 1/2 pounds!!!!!!!! From what I've read in my baby books, usually babies average about 3 lbs during this time. Does this seem on the larger side? The sono tech said the baby is definitely measuring big, and even his/her measurements are that of someone in their 33-34th week.

Re: Growth Sono at 30 weeks
Sounds a lil above average but nothing I'd worry about!! I had a growth sono at 31 weeks and the baby was measuring at 3.5 lbs which they said was right on target! Now at 37 weeks, the baby is measuring small so you never know what will happen over the next few weeks!

Keep in mind that growth sonos are just estimates. Your baby sounds like it's doing just fine!

Re: Growth Sono at 30 weeks
Now I'm a little worried after reading this post. I am going to be 33 weeks on Tuesday and have NOT had a growth sono done. My next appointment isn't until February 9th - which at that time I will be 33 weeks along. Should I call the OB?

I wouldn't worry, MOST people actually never have growth sonos! I've only had two because the doctors were concerned if I'd be able to deliver vaginally due to my narrow pelvis. They just wanted to make sure the baby wasn't too big! Most insurance companies won't even cover growth sonos unless medically necessary.

Well I think the only reason my dr started it now was because DH was almost 15 lbs at birth and His father was almost 12 lbs- so we were wondering if will be a big boy too.- so far so good

ITA. The day before I delivered DD they estimated her at over 8 lbs. She weighed just over 6 lbs. Big difference!
Baby sounds fine
