pinned back hair poof?
KWIM?...when you pin back just the front part and make it do that little poof thing? HOW do you actually do that? Which kind of clips do you use? I'm a spazz!

Re: pinned back hair poof?
I know exactly what you mean, and it took me forever to figure it out! The way I do it now is use a small claw clip (super small) to pin back the hair and then I push it forward and when I have the "bump" I want, I put bobby pins in behind the claw clip to hold the "bump" in place.

This is my super easy, go-to hair do for going out or going to work, heck even for going grocery shopping! For dressier events I just curl my hair and poof the front. For everyday, I just leave my hair as is and poof the front.
I find that the easiest way for me to do it is with the "folding" barrettes that grasp. Let me try to find a pic. Or if I can't find any in my house, I use bobby pins, but I point the open part of the bobby pin FORWARD (like towards my face, not towards the back of my head, if that makes sense) so that the bobby pin STAYS in - it holds best that way for me.
ETA: here's a pic of the clips I was talking about:

Bobby pins never work for me... I used to use a teeny tiny rubber band.. you know those "no crease" teeny rubber ones... but I found the perfect little black barette at Sephora that holds the perfect amount of hair.. they don't carry it anymore though...

See, these don't work for me either.. I always end up with more on one side than the other... I use something similar to this... but it's shorter and black... it just snaps closed.

I haven't been a fan of these simply because when I do the "poof" in the front, I pick up only a little bit of hair and try not to pin all the hair under the poof. With the snap clips, I use two - one facing left and one facing right so that no straggler hairs slip out from the sides.

I use 2 bobby pins and kind of cross them together. It sort of locks in place!

Re: pinned back hair poof?
I use a bobby pin. Basically I pull hair from the crown only, twist it one and then secure it with a bobby pin.
I have also used very small butterfly clips

I agree! I do it the same. I watched that video & they make it so complicated. I definitely don't spray & tease!
This is my go-to hairdo while I'm growing out my hideous haircut.. Thank goodness it's easy!

I found those tiny rubber bands and they dont get stuck in your hair. i can send you a pack if you want.
I have an extra pack and use them for my DD's hair.
Goody makes them.

Re: pinned back hair poof?
I pull it back, twist it, poof it forward and pin it with either bobby pins slide into the twist or very small chomps (those teeth clips).
