Painting a room & fumes?
My husband will be painting our office at home, and I hope to keep working in there later this week. He said the paint only takes 30mins to dry...but I'm guessing there will still be some fumes after. What would be considered safe? If I can't smell it at all?

It will be fine, just make sure the room is well ventilated. There are some girls on here who have painted their own babies nurseries with no problem.

We just bought Benjamin Moore Aura paint. It is odorless and has no fumes. It is environmentally friendly w/ low VOC's. It is a little more expensive.

I asked my OB b.c we have to paint the upstairs bedrooms (we have 2 upstairs and 2 downstairs) so I wasn't sure if it was going to okay - he said open all the windows in the room and use fans and to use No VOC paint - and to use one that has the least fumes that we could find.

Just to add another note from my OB... she said of course, the ventilation and also she said as long as it's not strong enough to give me a headache, it's fine. If it bothers you, don't stay in the room.

You'll know pretty quickly if it's going to bother you. They were painting the hallway outside of my office a few weeks ago and I got a terrible headache from the fumes in about 30 minutes and had to leave. I was back to do some work a few days later and couldn't even smell it anymore. Just be smart, listen to your body and you'll be fine.

I painted all weekend long and we used low VOC paint and I wasn't bothered at all

"Regular" paint can off-gas for up to a year. Low VOC or No VOC paint is the best way to go. I had my entire house painted with no VOC paints. There are absolutely no dangerous chemicals in the paint.

Benjamin Moore has low-VOC paint, but they don't have no VOC paint yet. I think most major brands are working on them, and just about everyone has very low VOC paint.

I researched them as well, but I didn't love the colors they had... they only have about 65 colors to choose from. The Mythic Paint company has almost an infinite selection. They'll also mix other brand's colors, so you can get any BM color you like, but with no poison added (BM's "no VOC" paint has no VOC in the white base, but the colorant they add to it has VOCs)

Well of course I find out....my husband started painting before I got to post this!
And its not low VOC paint  Thanks a lot DH for checking.
Will I be okay? Especially if they "off'gas" for a year?
DH said, oh we were all born with regular paint used so we should be fine

You'll be fine. Let it dry and ventilate completely for a few days before you work in there.
