Just curious to everyone PG, at any stage, and even new moms... what's one thing you're so happy you did, wish you didn't do, wish you knew about, etc. that you can share with the boards (stroller, furniture, picking a hospital, going on a baby moon, etc). TIA!!

Thing that I love that I did/am doing:

I've been working on my registry since I was 10 weeks. I have had plenty of time to research and ask around before registering for things and so far the whole process has been so smooth and stress-free.

Thing I wish I did:

Take progressive belly pictures. I have one picture of me from yesterday but I am so busy I bet it will be another 16 weeks before I think to take another picture.

I couldn't agree more about the registry thing...i haven't been stressed about it at ALL...and now about 5 weeks into the whole 'process' - we're confident that we're done...

Re: If there's one thing you'd recommend...

I'm happy we went to Europe before the baby. The only thing I would change was to not of been PG on the trip. I had horrible M/S.

I wish I would of got my body into really good shape before getting PG. I had a few pounds to loose and I wasn't going to the gym. I used to be so good with the gym, and have been so lazy the last year or so. I also wish I would of worked out while PG.

I wish I didn't gain so much weight. I really wanted to stay between 20-25lbs, and that didn't happen.

I'm glad I waited at least 2 years to get PG after marriage. It was nice to have that time to ourselves.

I had no desire to go on a babymoon, but I'm glad I went on two driving trips with DH. It was nice to get away, and be with just him. I'm suprised by this, since I'm big into traveling. I just felt like I couldn't enjoy myself as much as I usually do. I'm constantly worried.

Since this LO is not born as of yet I don't have much to add except, if you can take a babymoon take one. I am so glad we went away last month. I feel like I will have no regrets. It was nice to be alone with each other without daily life interuptions.

I'm so happy DH and I went to Italy right b4 we started trying. Going on a babymoon next week to Aruba. Chat Icon Can't wait! Also, I started to register and research daycares.

Wish I've been taking more belly shots. Wish I would order the baby furniture already, but I'll do it when I'm back from vacation. Oh... and there will be more... I'm 24 weeks now so I know I'll have more to add. Chat Icon

Re: If there's one thing you'd recommend...

i'm glad i went with my midwife. not that i'm saying midwife is the only way to go, but after researching and calling a bunch of providers, it was for me. and this practice in particular is great. i'm so glad i have someone who is on the same page as me in terms of pregnancy/delivery and who i feel like i can take my time with. it's also nice that they can work around my schedule instead of me rushing over there after work/taking time off, etc.

i'd definitely say research providers and make sure you're comfortable with them before settling. and if you're not comfortable - don't be afraid to change either.

Re: If there's one thing you'd recommend...

I wish as well we had taken a trip early on before he was born, especially out of the country.

It's probably going to be awhile before I feel comfortable taking him on a cruise let alone out of the country.

I also recommend in general doing what you feel comfortable doing during pregnancy and when DC is here.

You are going to get A TON of mixed opinions on what is right and what is wrong about every subject imaginable.

Keep an open mind. A lot of things you say you will never do, will definitely change. During pregnancy, and especially when DC is here.

I don't "regret" not breastfeeding, however, part of me wonders what it would have been like if I at least tried it.

Lastly, enjoy every step of your pregnancy. It is over so fast and believe it or not, I miss it and have days where I get sad that I am no longer preggers.

Re: If there's one thing you'd recommend...

For me, it's buy our own house before getting PG! DH and I lived in a two family with his parents our first year and a half of marriage and it was not at all a happy situation for me. We'll be in our new house a year next month and my pregnancy is sooooo stress free and happy! If I did not wait, this baby would be so colic and stressed out because I was in such a different emotional state.
