Myself and 3 of my pregnant friends
Have all been exposed to Fifths Disease.
This happened yesterday at a playdate at a large art gallery, the little boy came down with it last night. I wasn't in contact with him at all, but my other 3 pregnant friends (including his mother) had lunch at with him.
What are the real risks? I have my scan on Thursday so I am with the midwife anyway. I am not really too concerned, but wondering what the real risks are if anyone knows.

You can be tested to see if you are immune to 5th disease. I don't know exactly what the risks are if you weren't, but I know a lot of people already have the antibodies against 5th disease.

do you know if you had it as a child? if so you already have the antibodies and you will be fine.
if not, there is nothing they can do if you get it, they will just monitor you closely. my OB told me that it CAN be dangerous, but usually isn't.

It also only affects you in the first trimester. Just monitor yourself for symptoms but, I would give the midwife a heads up.
