Question about godparents
Does anyone know if the godparents can be of the same sex. DH and I only have brothers and we feel bad choosing one over the other. Thanks.

Re: Question about godparents
Technically, they have to be one of each sex. However, we didn't have a godfather that the Church saw fit enough (long story) so we picked both of our sisters. DD's Baptismal certificate only has my sister's name as the godmother & a blank for the godfather. However, we had my sister & my SIL come up to the altar with us for the baptism & we will tell DD that her aunts are her godparents.

Thanks. That sounds good. I just don't want anyone to have hurt feelings. This is so difficult.

Re: Question about godparents
i'm assuming you're catholic (b/c of someone's mention of canon law) but if you're not then it really depends on your church.

Re: Question about godparents
some churches will recognize same sex. a friend of mine baptised her son at a cathloic church with 2 god fathers. so it may depend on the situation. I would ask your church before you make any decisions

My church also said that according to Canon Law it has to be one of each sex.
