What is the newborn center???

It is sold at BBB and BRU and is basically a small gliding "newborn seat". It has a ton of features;motions, sounds, white noise..etc. I have heard amazing reviews about this from friends and something that appealed to me was that the Graco Carseats are adaptable to the unit. Makes it alot easier to keep a sleeping baby asleep after a car ride!....May not be everyone's cup of tea but for us we cannot wait to try it out..HTH

I love this too! So you can either use the seat that it comes with or say you're out and come home you can plug the carseat right in there without disturbing your child?!

Edited to change "there". Their there they're so annoying!

I'm really excited to get the swing we registered for. Also, I'm not necessarily EXCITED about carseats, but I'm anxious to get that since it's such a necessity.

I actually can't wait to get little booties. I scanned so many little socks and booties. I hope someone fills a basket full of them for me.

I feel like most of the things on my registry are necessities and aren't necessarily cute but I get happy when I see cute little booties.

Re: Most wanted Registry Item...

this is my concern with things like this...

Baby bargains mentions that you shouldn't keep the baby in a carseat or anything like that for a good length of time, because of the concern for something like, 'flat head' problems....

it's why i removed the graco car seat swing from my registry...

should i put it back???

THe American Academy of pediatrics also reccomends that you do not let teh baby sleep in teh car seat if you aren't traveling...Its bad for their neck and spine (think of the C shape the spine is in when they are in it) there are also links of prolonged time in the car seat with reflux/GI issues.....

This is one of the reasons we got a stroller that has a Pram feature so the baby can be laying down and flat as possible.....

When my nephew was a baby we would take him out of the car seat when he got home and placed him in his crib/bassinet and he would sleep right through it!

Do what you are comfortable with

If your baby is like any other baby, I'm sure s/he will cry often and you will be holding him/her so it won't be like you can keep the baby in the seat for THAT long of a period. Plus you've got to feed the kid too, which I doubt you'll do while s/he is still in the carseat.

I was all for the graco sweetpeace but ended up switching to the fisher price papasan last minute.

My sister would keep my nephew in his car seat for long periods of time if that was the only place he was going to sleep! You just do what's necessary to keep your baby sleeping! If you really want the swing, put it back on your registry.. you never know, it could be a lifesaver for you!

I know plenty of babies who slept in their swings/car seats, etc... for the first few months because that's the only way they would sleep.

ITA. I have a baby who only wants to be held and won't sleep anywhere but my arms at night. I'm lucky if I can put him down in the swing or car seat/snap n go for an hour or two so I can eat, shower, etc. You need to do whatever works to get your child to sleep and to keep your sanity.

Re: Most wanted Registry Item...

I actually just looked back on BRU and its not on there but it was taken off my registry so I am confused LOL......called the store and she said the website may just be malfunctioning...lol..they definately have them in store in massapequa!...as for the PP I agree that it recommended not to leave baby for a long time in car seat but it has the other seat also so do waht you feel comfy with...It is really personal preference........We heard nothing but amazing reviews on it!

Re: Most wanted Registry Item...

I agree with all the pp that say do whatever is best for your baby and will keep them sleeping. You are always going to find something written about what not to do. My sister has twins now 12 and they are fine. When they were little they would only sleep in their car seats or the swing. She was recently telling my friend who gave birth 2 months ago to do what is best for her son. He will only sleep in his car seat and not in his bassinet or crib. My friend is finally getting sleep. When my boys come a long I will try my hardest to get them to sleep in their cribs but of that doesn't work then I'll go to what does work for them.

Just FYI...babies shouldn't sleep in their carseats b/c it is a SIDS risk (if you aren't traveling!)

Sometimes the car seat or the swing is the only place they can sleep. My friend's baby has bad reflux and can't sleep laying down flat so she is better off propped up. Also like others said that baby will sleep curled up on your chest and you will do tummy time so they aren't on their backs so much.
