Who's your OBGYN?
Who is your OBGYN? What do you like about him/her? Any dislikes? Has he/she delivered any of your previous children? Any horror stories of other OBs you think I need to know about while I'm shopping around?

Re: Who's your OBGYN?
I'm out of state so you probably don't need my OB's name... but what I like about him is his personality - very fun. I love that he spends plenty of time with me every time I'm there and answers all my questions. I love that he is very proactive about preterm labor and he is known for his expertise in delivery. Also, he's been doing this for over 20 years.... Also, he will let me come in for an extra sono if he thinks I'm going to worry too much if I don't see him for too long. He's great! He is also in his own practice so he is the only one I see (in addition to my separate high risk doctor who works at the hospital).
Dislikes: Well, sometimes he's been doing this so long I think he doesn't worry enough. He tells me I can eat sushi, for example, but I am still too worried to do that usually. LOL things like this are minor though. There's also often a long wait since he spends so much time with patients, but I don't mind that.

Re: Who's your OBGYN?
I see Dr. Lustberg in Huntington.
I started seeing him upon a recommendation of a friend over 4 years ago.
There are so many things that I like about him. He has his own practice so I always see him, not another doctor. That is important to me (while others may prefer a doctor in partnership with other doctors). His office staff is wonderful, from the receptionist to the nurses. They are timely with their appointments so it's very rare that I will end up spending long in the waiting room. Dr. Lustberg has a wonderful bedside manner; he always puts things in layman's terms and will not poo-poo your concerns. He takes the extra time to explain EVERYTHING. I also really love that after he sees a patient, he waits by the front desk for the patient to come out. He asks if you have any other questions and has that last personal contact with you. I never feel rushed.
He delivered my first child and was very upfront about everything that was going to happen. He fit my philosophy when it came to pain meds. He believes in giving pain medication when the mother feels that she needs it. He says that he is no-one to deny a woman pain meds as everyone has a different pain threshold. He also really kept a close eye on me after 32 weeks; I was on bedrest and he treated me with kid-gloves. He induced me at 37 weeks and I trusted in his decision to do so. I feel like I have a very good doctor-patient relationship with him. I would recommend him to anyone!!!
Any other questions, FM me.
ETA: He will deliver the child I am pregnant with now as well.
