bedding

So, has anyone had the argument with their mom or MIL about not registering for a bedding set? I have one on my current registry and I'm being told that it's not worth it b/c I won't use the bumper (risk of SIDS) or the quilt. Actually, the Carter's Love Bug set has a thin comforter so I might actually use it. I was excited to pick out a bedding set in anticipation of setting up the nursery...just part of the fun of having a baby. I won't even have a nursery until I move (2 months after the baby arrives). What is your opinion? Have you had this argument?

......if i left it up to others - i would use the bumpers and put the baby on their stomach to sleep!

Re: bedding

No arguments for me. I happened to come across a crib set/theme years ago when we got married and still like it. My mom already told me that she would get it for me! Chat Icon

I've recently heard about the new bumper scare but I'm sure I'll use them and just make sure they are fastened properly.

NO, and not for anything I think anyone trying to talk youout of what you eant is silly. Buy it yourself. Mine has bumpers and a quilt. They are both in and on the crib. Obviously I will not be using the quilt right away but will use it if I put him on the couch etc.

Re: bedding

I still have my bumpers in and DD is almost 3. I've never taken them out. I thought about it a few times and then I visited my sister in NC when DD was a few months old. She did not have bumpers in the crib DD slept in there and her leg got caught twice, so I decided to leave them in there. I just always made sure they were tucked into the mattress so DD couldn't get stuck underneath them. We never had a problem.

I've never used the comforter that came with her set, but now that she is older I suppose I can. I will also put it on the bed if she gets a toddler bed before a regular bed. You can also buy clips and hang it on the wall as a decoration so that it coordiantes with the room.

Re: bedding

My mom at some point did disagree with me it was pointless to get a bedding set that came with all that stuff because i was always talking about sids and all. I still bought the one i like and she even helped me set it up. I say go with what you like this is your child and your instincts about the bumpers will lead you in the right direction. Good luck

Re: bedding

I would say get the bedding if you like...the bumpers can be removed if you feel uncomfortable..and you can use the new safety bumpers instead..and the comforter can be used when they get older..I currently use the sleepsack...Yes I'm very scared about SIDS..but I use the sleepsack because my lil one wiggles alot and one time I found her with the blanket over her face..this is why I use the sleepsack and don't use a sheet in the crib...

Re: bedding

i registered for and got bedding. i use the bumpers, the sheet and the dust ruffle, and the comforter is like part of the nursery decor - it is hanging over a bar on the outsie of the crib (it does not fall on the inside at all).

it is all personal preference. do you need it? no, you can get away with just sheets. but if you want it get it!
