Ruby- How was your shower?

Hey to my Shower buddy

I had mine today up in Peeksill.

The weather sucked big time, although I had some no shows, I will admit I had a pretty good turn out considering the snow. I was pleasantly surprised.

How was yours? Was thinking about you today.

Just saw this. Thanks so much for thinking of me, I was thinking of you too!! Glad yours turned out well.

Well, my entire side of the family no-showed. It was up in Rockland, that's where I grew up and my friends are (though DH and I have lived in the the city for years), but all of my family is out on LI, Queens and Jersey, so they all decided not to risk the roads, totally understandable. Except for my aunt and my cousin who came out from LI, they're always troopers and I love them dearly. Being that DH has a teeny family (they're local in Rockland) to begin with there would have been practically nobody there. So, my mom and my best friend were on the phone early and decided that since my friends were local, they would just make it a jack & jill/family shower. The room had a minimum so my mom would be paying for the plates anyway. So, my friends brought their husbands (who are also my friends) and some of them brought their little ones too, so it helped to fill up the room, and made me happy too that my guy friends kinda "took one for the team" for me. It was funny actually because the guys won all the prizes for the shower games....imagine their disappointment though when the prizes were girly things. oh well.

So, all in all it turned out pretty ok, my guy friends had a better time than I think they thought they would and we actually ended up getting a pretty decent amount of stuff considering the low turnout. Guess we'll wait to see what comes in the mail now the next couple of weeks. But I was so happy that everyone cared so much to try and make it the best it could have been considering the weather.

Thanks Marie. It was fun. Even DH said that he had fun at his "first" shower.

So happy you were able to make lemons out of lemonade.

Hoping people who did not show will mail the gifts or make other arrangements.

I was saying that unfortunately this is the chance you take when having winter babies. I know birthday parties will be either hit or miss with regards to the weather.

sounds almost liek more fun thatn it might have been to begin with....its great that you were so understanding...and that you got to have a whole diff kind of shower!
