Re: Recommend your hospital!

I havent deal with any of them. but my friend just had her baby at Stonybrook. We just went yesterday to visit and her room was sooooo NICE.. the wing was just redone. She had her own room and bathroom.. It was soo nice. My sil gave birth to both nephews there within the last 4 years and was happy with them.

Re: Recommend your hospital!

I've had a baby at Stonybrook and St. Charles-two different scenarios, but I liked St. Charles. They were very good to us.

Re: Recommend your hospital!

From what I've heard, I would recommend Good Sam.

We're delivering at St. Catherine which from all my friends got rave reviews.

Honestly, I've heard some bad press about Stony Brook.

Also, keep in mind location, doc's affiliations, etc. Its not like you choose your hospital. I personally think its more about who you choose for a doc.

I haven't used those hospitals, but, I know someone who delivered at St. Catherines and she had a GREAT experience.

Re: Recommend your hospital!

I am delivering at Stony Brook. I have heard very good things about their maternity. They just re-did it as well and it is beautiful! Also, they have an NICU there in case of any issues. My doctor/practice only admits to SB.

Re: Recommend your hospital!

I think it depends on what you are going for. St. Charles doesn't offer private rooms and their visiting hours are strict. I delivered at SB and had a great experience. Loved the private rooms, the fact that visiting hours are lengthy, and the baby isn't locked up during visiting hours.

Same here. I love the fact that they are all private rooms with private bathrooms, and the food there is wonderful. There is a greater system of checks and balances since it is a teaching hospital.

I don't like St. Catherine's and switched doctors to NOT deliver there. Just from having to go there for tests the parking was horrendous.

Re: Recommend your hospital!

I had DS at St. Catherine's and did not love it. I'm not looking forward to another delivery there, but I love my doctors and don't want to switch. Chat Icon

Re: Recommend your hospital!

I don't have any experience w/ the hospitals you listed, I'll be delivering at North Shore Plainview....my SIL just delivered there and its all private rooms and she said the food was pretty good. I love that its not a huge maze like LIJ and parking is easily accessible (it feels like a mile away at LIJ!!).

good luck with your decision!! can you do tours at each of them to get a feel for which one you like?
