Can I have some housetraining tips?

Our puppy was doing so well. He had a few accidents here and there but he was doing great....

Ever since it got colder we've had real problems with getting him to go outside. I would swear that he knows he is suppose to go outside but doesnt want to b/c he knows it's cold out there....

He's a 3 month old boxer...

TIA

I ordered Poochie Bells online. You hang them on or near the door and when you take him out you ring the bell before you go out, when he goes, give him a treat. Repeat this several times a day. I did this and Brody was trained within a few weeks. Your guy is still young, but he will get it. The bells were a huge success. Brody was ringin them on his own in 2 weeks.

I'm certainly no where near being an expert, b/c we had to retrain our 2yo, but she HATES the cold too - she will run outside do her biz and then RUN to go back inside to be warm.

We put her on a rigid schedule, and then started spacing them out more to accommodate our schedule.

Crate training really helps when housebreaking a dog - I SWEAR by it. They will never make where they rest/sleep and helps them to hold it in longer - but you have to be very very very attentive.

We take her out first thing in the morning, after she eats (approx 15 minutes after), then every three hours until it's dinner time and take her out then (15 minutes after), and then before we go to sleep and put her in the crate.

We're now down to the following:
- first thing in the morning
- after she eats in the morning and night
- before we go to bed

There were certainly times where we had to physically carry her outside to go to the bathroom, we would give her a treat whenever she pee'd or poo'd and said "good girl".

Oh, also, it helped us having a "command" whenever it was time for us to take her out. We'd say "Maddy, outtie" - and she'd head to the door.
