Would you go?...NYE related

My BIL's GF has a house in Vermont- a bunch of couples are going to go to VT for NYE and spend a few days there-

All along I have said that I didn't want to go because it was too close to DD and I wasn't sure how I would feel--- this trip has been planned for MONTHS--

BUT, now that it is much closer and my pregnancy has been healthy and fine I am wondering if we could go... (deep down I don't really want to but I know it would make DH happy if we did)

I will be just about 34 weeks pregnant at the time...

My intial concerns- the drive- having to stop to go to the bathroom often- being uncomortable in the car for that many hours-

Is 34 weeks too close to due date? What if something happens while we are there?

The weather in VT could be bad-

Would you go if you were in my shoes?

Re: Would you go?...NYE related

hmm tough one.. Next year when dd is almost a year, would you consider going out for NYE? I know now that I have my dd and soon to be #2.. NYEs has taken a back burner.. and I much rather be home with them then out. If you feel the same, then essentially this is your last NYE out for awhile... so you can either go out and see what happens.. You pretty much have to go by what your most comfortable with.. 34 weeks to me.. is kinda close.. my OB didnt want me traveling far that close to due date.. but that could just be my OB.

Yeah, I would never go out that far for NYE with DD...plus with this group of friends/none married/no kids, I doubt they would want to go with us anywayChat Icon

NYE has never been my thing- I am fine with staying home in PJs but it has always been a bigger deal for DH

I got a feeling hell get over it.. Now if something was to happen while going out.. that he may not get over. I say better safe than sorry.. and just make it special cozy night .. you and dh and little belly.. get some candle lights and make him forget all about his friends..Chat Icon

I would stay home, lets just say you go early for whatever reason. You are so far away from YOUR drs. But thats just me. I have been pretty relaxed this pregnancy, but that close make me nervous to be that far from home.

If it was me, I wouldn't go. I know I would not end up having a good time that far along in my pregnancy and the other couples probably will have no understanding since they haven't been through it.

I wouldn't go either. I'm 36 weeks already and I'm not even leaving Queens for family functions in LI & Brooklyn during the holidays. Just in case DD decides to come early, I would be able to get to the hospital that I'm delivering in right away.

I agree. My father has a vacation house in VT and wanted us to come up for NYE, I'll also be 34 weeks. We are not going for the above reason. I'm too nervous at this point to be that far away from my Dr. and hospital.

Re: Would you go?...NYE related

Personally, I wouldn't go..34 weeks is kinda close, and you never know what could happen..and Vermont is far...and snowy.

I'm debating whether to go to a house party in Queens ( and I live in Queens)..but I will be 35 weeks on NYE, and I am already contracting and 50% effaced...so I'm scared to go anywhere too far.

I know it sucks, but I would rather play it safe, IMO.

Re: Would you go?...NYE related

you have officially convinced me not to go!

Dh is fine with not going- I just know he would "like" to be there- he is not pushing it at all...

Re: Would you go?...NYE related

i would totally go. just be smart and make a plan. DH & i drove to illinois at 34 weeks and made it here in one piece (that's like 14 hrs!) i'm sure you can get to VT safely! the key is to stop every couple hours to stretch...even if you don't feel like it, just get out, walk around and move. it didn't make the trip seem longer and it helped lots! plus, this could be like your babymoon! my pregnancy has been completely healthy this entire time, if i had the opportunity i would totally go out and have fun! Re: Would you go?...NYE related

tough call..and really only you can make it. For myself we made plans already with some friends to just relax at their house....get some take out....enjoy a few movies....they will be drinking...I am sure it will be boring for me but I'm more concerned with not having to drive too far home with all the DWI'ers out there

Re: Would you go?...NYE related

I probably wouldn't go, but then again, I have not been feeling well all along, and that would concern me more than the risk of going into labor early if you don't have a pre existing condition that might bring on early labor.

I would def go! It sounds like so much fun and 34 weeks isn't bad at all. I am going to AC 3 weeks before my c-section and super excited!!!! Not as far but still won't be able to make it back if something happens but I am still doing itChat Icon
