Opinions Needed
I oredered Heartguard from 1800PETMEDS. They called my vet. My vet wouldn't provide an Rx because they said Scout needed to come in for a check-up first.
Fine. DH takes hi, pays for the full office visit, and the vaccinations that were due. He asks them to meet the 1800PETMEDS price. They say no but he can buy form them. Um no thanks.
He gives me the Rx. I fax to 1800PETMEDS. They send an email - it must be an original or faxed by the vet directly.
I ask my vet to fax the Rx. They won't do it. They said "You can send yourself if you want but since we sell it here, we won't fax the Rx."
I find that to be unethical. It's like my Dr. saying "I'll only prescribe through CVS" because of course he gets a kick-back.
So, what do you think and WWYD? I've been happy with my vet up until this point.

Re: Opinions Needed
That would really upset me... I woud have a hard time going back to a Vet thats so hard up.. Did you actually talk to the Vet? Maybe if you schmooze him alittle he will give in.. sometimes the girls behind the desk are so mean.. I had the samething happen to me.. But I got them to meet the price on a few things ie: test's and dog food my other vet was less money and they honored it.. But at first the girl said NO Then the office Mngr said Of course!!! try the vet himself.. put him on the spot...

Yeah but I don't want to OBLIGATE them to do what, IMO, is the right thing. If they are unethical, I want nothing to do with them.
But, DH says business is business and not to take it as an ethical issue...

I understand that business is business but some field should not be about pure business in the profit sense (education, health care, etc). I think this crosses the line, and I would be very upset.
