Umemployment questions for you ladies who also have it
I just got laid off from my dental assistant job on Nov. 21 and just filed for umemployment yesterday. How much do the benefits cover? Is there a certain percentage of my normal income? I am just trying to figure out how much i will be getting as compared to my regular income.
I have applied to numerous jobs since being laid off and no one will hire me because In 7.5 months I will need maternity leave. This is so frustrating!!!!!

I live in VA and applied..they told me they look at your last 18 months of work and average out your pay and thats what you get.

My husband was on unemployment for a bit last year. If you are in NY, i believe that that its done on a scale, and based on how much you made is then you get a certain amt, but i dont think it what you being paid, i think its a percentage.

Sorry to hear about your job. I got laid off the same day too. I'm confused how they base how much money you get, but in NY the maximum is $405 a week.
Actually I just went down to unemployment yesterday because they made an appointment for me to go to this workshop. I explained that I'm 9 months pregnant and due soon. She gave me a # to call to explain the situation and what steps do I need to take. The woman that I spoke to also said I would be eligible for disability since I wouldn't be able to work or go on interviews. I'm going to try calling today and hopefully get some answers.

In NY, the maximum amt they will give you a week is $405, depending on what you were making before...

That really sucks. Disability is 170 a week whereas unemployment is 405!
I was on unemployment last month (back to work now) and I made $403/wk,
