Why does Brody keep destroying his beds?!

Chat Icon I have gone from spending over $150.00 on beds to the last one which I bought the day before Thanksgiving for $10 at Walgreens...gone! I used to take the beds away and lock them in the bedroom when we went out, but he seemed to be behaving and bang! Another one bites the dust. WHY WHY WHY BRODY!!???

Boredom? Doesn't have other challenging chews to concentrate on like a nylabone? Can't be trusted with soft fluffy objects just yet? Chat Icon

When Brinkley chewed his first crate mat, we took it out and didn't replace it. Two weeks went by, we put in something else which lasted a few more weeks till it got chewed. He had nothing for a month.

We just got the new bed but I kept an eye on him and each time he licked it or started to open his mouth, I said NO! He could still chew it, who knows, but for now, it works. He's got kongs, nylabones, squeakies, all kinds of toys to keep it interesting.

Re: Why does Brody keep destroying his beds?!

In the morning I leave him with a kong with some hard-to-get-out treatsd in it. He also has his 2 secret santa gifts, which are a nylabone ring and a rope toy. Plus another rope toy with 2 huge balsl on the end, another nylabone and a marrow bone. He seems to enjoy tearing things up like shredding washcloths, etc....He just turned 2, I hope he gets over it. He has definitely improved like 90%.
BTW I am in love with Brinkley! His face is just amazing!!!

Ollie used to shred her wee wee pad to pieces when we weren't home. Every single day! I told the vet about and he said she's doing it because she's bored.

Casey cannot have a doggie bed...she has eaten every single one we have ever bought for her. Waste of $. Now she sleeps on the carpet behind the recliner or on the couch in the computer room. We gave up!

Wow, he's got more toys than we have for Brinkley! Chat Icon Does he chew on anything else inappropriate, or just the bed? I'd probably stop buying them for a while, so he doesn't see a pattern and think they're toys.

He just turned 2. I am not buying any more beds for now. He spends most of his time on the sofa or in our bed anyhow!Chat Icon

Re: Why does Brody keep destroying his beds?!

I can't leave Stella in her crate with any kind of dog bed or blanket because she chews them apart!!!! I leave bones and toys in her crate with her but she chooses to chew the bed or blanket so now I only leave toys in there with her...She doesn't do it when she is out of her crate...She has a dog bed in our room that she sleeps on every night with 2 blankets and she doesn't destroy them...I don't get it.
