Cant concentrate...anxiety? sorry..long
I feel so overwhelmed and I just cant wrap my head around it. I have SO SO SO much left to do for the baby and I willl be 35 weeks tomorrow. Nothing is ready and if this kid comes early I am severly screwed!
In addition to that I have to get things ready for my leave replacement at work, figure out WTH to do about xmas shopping, and about a million other things.
I am typically SUPER organized and feel like everything is getting away from me. I cant even seem to figure out when to pay my BILLS lately.
Ugh. I also have been in a funk because I really dont have any friends that have kids (most arent even married yet) and I just feel like the "lame pregnant one". I know the baby will be my life once he/she comes, but I cant help feeling really alone and a little envious of my friends that dont have these responsibilities and are out having fun.
Even worse, I have a few very close friends that are having a really hard time right now for various reasons and I havent been there for them at all.
sorry for the vent.. but I was hoping others would have some advice to make me feel less crazy and alone.

no matter how much you prepare, having this baby is going to throw you for a loop anyway seriously, stop stressing so much and try (i know, it's hard, i remember) to enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. it is over sooo fast and there is just something about lugging around that big belly that i miss so much
that being said, i totally get where you are coming from. we didn't even finish DS's nursery until after he came home from the hospital! it WILL all work itself out. your leave replacement will do what they have to do to get by. put your DH in charge of christmas shopping! or better yet give out amex gift cards - i bet everyone will understand.
as for not having pregnant friends/friends with babies, that is what WE are here for. i have one friend with a child who lives 45 minutes away - and that baby is 18 months old, and DS is 3 months old, so GTGs are definitely not for the kids but i have made some really great mommy friends on here and our GTGs have been lots and lots of fun.
you're going to be a great mommy, jen - that doesn't take any preparation at all!!

Re: Cant concentrate...anxiety? sorry..long
I can totally relate, with the exception of the working. It's a lot to take in. I sit here making my calls, trying to get everything ready and all I keep doing is crying about not being near my family for the "first baby" and then for kicks and poops Xmas. Its bugging me out. DH while he is wonderful, thinks Im crazy. It is a LIFE changing event, I mean heck its a whole other life for God sake. I think it is perfectly normal but while its happeneing the out of control is whats making me nuts. Just (I HATE tHIS) try and relax, do a little something each night and before you know it, it will be done and team Beagle will be here.
I babbled. Im sorry, but I think you got the gist of what I was saying.

Okay, as for the baby, when you come home trust me you dont need much. THe hospital will give you everythign you need and ask for more if need be...diapers, gauze to use as "wipes", vasaline if its a boy, a comb, thermometer, formula nursettes, paci, so as long as you have a place to lay the baby down, (anywhere will really do ) and a few PJs you are set!
Christmas, when my SIL was due in November, they did gifts cards for all...dont fret, everyone will understand! Last year my family didnt exchange christmas gifts until well after the new year with DS being born.
Some of my most excited and interested friends (after baby arrived) are those w/o kids. You will be fine. And if they are really TRUE friends they will understand that you have alot going on and you want to be there for them but its hard right now!
As for hte bills, have DH pay them for a bit. The baby takes 1/2 of your brain so as I used to tell my boss I am just not as smart as I used to be...it takes some time to acclimate to having less brains

Re: Cant concentrate...anxiety? sorry..long
Being home for weeks, I have so much time to think about everything, and sometimes it sends me into a panic. My stay in the hospital finally gave us that nudge that the babies are actually coming and we finally got everything done. The house is a complete mess because I can't do anything. Laundry is piled up and I am running out of underwear and things to wear but I feel bad asking DH to do these things because he is doing so many other things. I worry about how we are going to afford this. I am worried my disability hasn't kicked in and I'm going to stop getting pay checks. I worry about what I am going to do once my maternity leave is over. Basically I worry about everything. As for the friends with babies - I am lucky because I do have friends with new babies. But don't worry Jen, there are lots of LIF ladies (including me!) who live near you and we will make it a point to get together!!
ETA: gifts. we decided we are not going to do gifts this year. people need to deal with it. we don't know when the babies are going to be here. I'm home on bed rest and can't go shopping. AND we really don't have any extra money to spend on gifts. My family and DH's family know this and are fine with it.

UGH I know exactly how you feel. I am very organized as well, and when it was down to "crunch time" with G, I freaked in a big way.
It all works out.....

I remember in my last trimester, I was emotionally beating myself up over everything. There is only so much you can do! You are 35 weeks PREGNANT!!! Do what you can and ask for help. Everything will get done!!!!
